An open water or confined scuba diving is made under an instructor’s direct supervision to introduce participants to the fun and adventure of recreational diving. The dive does not result in certification. – WRSTC
Imagine what it’s like to slip below the surface and continue breathing while you float weightlessly underwater!
The NAUI Try Scuba and Passport Scuba Diver program is an introductory scuba program of the National Association of Underwater Instructors. The Try Scuba portion of the program is designed to simply introduce you to scuba diving in a pool or confined water. Once you complete your pool or confined water training, continue your adventure in the open water by continuing in the NAUI Passport Scuba Diver Program.
PASSPORT SCUBA DIVER
Earn your Passport Scuba Diver certification by completing the required open water dives with a NAUI Instructor. Upon successful completion, you may continue to enjoy scuba diving under the direct supervision of a NAUI Instructor or dive leader for up to 12 months. Engaging in such activities during the initial 12-month period automatically extends your passport for an additional 12 months. NAUI Passport Scuba Divers are qualified to participate in supervised dives in conditions similar to those in which they are trained.
As an active Passport holder, you are encouraged to continue your diving education by attending a NAUI Scuba Diver Certification Program. The successful completion of a NAUI Scuba Diver Program bestows upon you the freedom to dive independent of direct supervision, and if you enroll within six months of your most recent Passport experience, your skills proficiency may be credited towards the requirements of the course. (Credit for previous experience is at the sole discretion of the receiving NAUI Instructor or Facility.)
DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, PADI Discover Scuba Diving is for you. We offer this program either in a pool, off a beach or from a dive boat. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health. Are you ready to try it out?
You learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. If you make an open water dive, you’ll practice a few more skills in shallow water to prepare for your adventure. Get ready to:
- Go over the scuba equipment you use to dive and how easy it is to move around underwater with your gear.
- Find out what it’s like to breathe underwater.
- Learn key skills that you’ll use during every scuba dive.
- Have fun swimming around and exploring.
